Re-opener on Health Insurance for 2008???

Are we getting ready for Bargaining soon? We have received the information on the proposed health insurance. Kerr was facing large increases in the premiums for health insurance from Regence for 2008.

The big concern for Local 3214, union sisters and brothers, was whether Kerr would try to again bargain workers paying part of the premiums for medical insurance that few of us could afford to use.

As most of us know, our gas, electric, heat, food, etc has risen this last year dramatically. Unlike Kerr, we do not have the ability to do fund-raising in the community to assist in paying our basic needs.

Kerr looked at other options, finding better deals on premiums. Only one carrier offered both lower premiums and better benefits for employees.

This was a benefit for all of Kerr employees, but there was a problem. Lane County
